What if…

Project Warrior Goddess

What if we lived in a world that genuinely disregarded gender as a way to dictate what people should and shouldn’t do.

What if we lived in a world where it was socially acceptable to wear whatever you felt like wearing, skirt/trousers/long hair/short/hair/make up/heels/boots/trainers, literally whatever you wanted without being labelled or bullied for being different.

What if we lived in a world where we could love whoever we liked without the gender of our partner being the first thing we are judged on.

What if we lived in a world where we were free to be whatever gender we need to be to align our brains and our bodies.

I’d be happy with that. In fact I’d fight for that!

Sadly we don’t.

I would love to say that gender stereotyping is a thing of the past, but it really isn’t. There are unconscious biases that pervade every level…

Reboot day 69: Walk a mile in my shoes

Project Warrior Goddess

Well not so much a mile, more, well …you’ll see 🙂

It was Saturday, I had tried to run but really wasn’t in the right frame of mind… I was struggling to know what exercise to do…

It shouldn’t really be that hard but some days you just don’t have a decision making capability…

faith good ideaAnyway, I came up with an idea, it was part intrigue, and part laziness. Not physical laziness, but mental laziness. I was an idea that seemed like a good one when I had it…and I decided that if nothing else it would lead to a good blog post 🙂

The things I do for you guys!!

I decide to do one of the workouts I planned for my best client. I chose the most recent one from this Friday, I got my stuff and I set myself up in the kitchen. It had to be the…

Remember when I said never again…

I am always one to challenge myself…

Project Warrior Goddess

I did… I said never again.

I said I hated it and I wouldn’t ever do another one.

I wrote about it a lot… here and here

Well… I may have changed my mind.

Its ok…I can do that, I am allowed 🙂 I make my own rules you know 😛

In case you haven’t already guessed, I am talking about running. Specifically running races, and even more specifically running a half marathon.

Yes…that’s right, after several strong hints, you have guessed it! I have signed up to run another half marathon. Brighton half marathon on 25th Feb 2018 to be precise.

brighton half marathon So, there it is…

I suppose that I have a little bit of explaining to do…

I have been thinking about this for a while, I have actually been putting some serious thought into whether this is a good idea or whether I should just let the whole…

Body Positivity

Work out for your own reasons and be proud of your achievements!

Project Warrior Goddess

img_6203 3 years of hard work…

I am not putting up that picture to show off… This is not a look at my weight loss etc post or picture…although to be completely honest it is good to remind myself how far I have come once in a while…

The whole point of this picture is it represents a fundamental change in my attitude!

When the first picture was taken I hated pictures, I wouldn’t look at the camera and I could barely look at the resulting pictures without being miserable for ages.

Now, believe it or not, I am willing to pose for photos, I mostly don’t hate them and I even have more selfies than is sensible on my phone! But this is about more than photos. It is about confidence and attitude. It is about finding the courage to stand up to the judgmental attitudes of today’s society. To stand…

Dear the world, trust your kidneys!

If you are considering a detox, consider your reasons and have a think about what they can really do for you! Have a read of this from my other blog and think about whether you are just after a quick fix!

Project Warrior Goddess

And your liver.

In general, trust your body’s mechanism for removing waste products and toxins from itself.

Your body has evolved over thousands of years to be really efficient at getting rid of things that are toxic to it.

It cleans blood and produces waste products and in extreme cases reacts violently against toxic substances by making you sick.

If you have toxins in your body that your body can’t get rid of in a day (or 2) then you are ill…get to a doctor. Juice and smoothies and fancy green tea will no help you!

Don’t believe me? Consider this…

Have you ever had a hangover? you are sick and you feel awful, that is your body’s reaction to toxins. Have you noticed that hangovers rarely last more than a day and generally only a few hours. This is true even after periods of over indulgence like christmas. That thing…

The problem with me and food

Some more of my background!
It is important to know that when losing weight or getting fitter, exercise is not the whole story, diet is a big part of it too. It is also important to realise that reasons for overeating often go far beyond simple greediness or poor self control…

Project Warrior Goddess

Or should I say the problems…

Me and food have a complicated relationship, and I haven’t really gone into it much on this blog because I have been all about the fitness and all about moving forward into a new healthy lifestyle.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still all about that.

But I thought it was time to tell you about some realities relating to me and my general diet and attitude towards food, and a little bit about where I think it has come from.

What made me have this thought right now, I hear you ask…

Well it came from a  twitter update I made on Tuesday and a conversation I had with a work colleague on the same day.

The picture was this one:

IMG_1876 2 years and 7 months! I barely recognise the person on the left, I certainly never felt like I looked like that…
